Yale Tailgate 2022 - Saturday, November 19
Dear Classmate,
During the past few years of Covid-related hibernation, very few of us have been able to visit the Harvard campus (or many of the other places we’d like to go). For those who are comfortable getting back out into the world, the Harvard-Yale football game on November 19 presents a great opportunity to reconnect with long-time friends. After a hiatus of six years -- including a “home” game at Fenway Park – the legendary game is returning to Harvard Stadium.
With our 50th reunion just two years away, this would be a perfect time to be together and to experience what many consider one of the best Harvard Stadium tailgates – The Class of ‘74 Tailgate. Those who have attended in the past know this to be a fact. Thanks to a very generous and anonymous class donor, participation in the event comes at no cost to classmates.
The kick-off for the football game is at 12:00 so the event will start early - 9:00 for the most enthusiastic tailgaters. (If you plan to attend the game, however, you’ll need to have tickets. The Department of Athletics says The Game is sold out and encourages fans interested in purchasing tickets to visit VividSeats.com.) If you do not get tickets or are unable to stay for The Game, you should consider coming to the tailgate anyway since that in itself will be a major event.
In class-related news, our classmate Merrick Garland addressed the recent commencement gathering for the Classes of 2020 and 2021 with a strong and timely message about current issues of national importance. His remarks can be heard at https://www.youtube.com/c/harvard/videos.
Our classmate Tom Quirk has been involved with organizing several of our football tailgate events over the years. Please feel free to contact him at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with any related questions you may have.
As in past years, the class will be set up in the area next to the closed end of the Stadium inside Gate 8. That’s the paved area between the Stadium and McCurdy Track. If you bought a parking pass for The Game, you will probably have to enter from Gate 14 on Soldiers Field Road. If you come early, you may get a spot on the infield of McCurdy Track. There is usually parking available for a fee at the Business School parking lot. If you have difficulty finding us, please text or call Tom Quirk at 617 270-3083.
